LATEST @ September 13 | A woman will front court today after allegedly stabbing a man at Tweed Heads.
The 55-year-old man was found lying on the side of Kirkwood Road, near the M1 at Tweed Heads South, with a stab wound to his neck around 7.30am on Tuesday.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
A 69-year-old woman was arrested nearby and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
She has since been charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm.
The woman was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court this morning.
EARLIER @ September 12 | A man has been airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition following a stabbing in Tweed Heads.
The 55-year-old was found lying on the side of Kirkwood Road, near the M1 at Tweed Heads South, with a stab wound to his neck around 7.30am this morning.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being flown to the Uni Hospital, where he remains fighting for his life.
A 69-year-old woman was arrested at the scene before being taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where she is continuing to assist police with inquiries.
A crime scene has been established, which will be forensically examined.
Kirkwood Road between the M1 and Falcon Way will remain closed for some time, with motorists being redirected to the next exit (Minjungbal Drive).
