A man will front court today charged with assaulting an elderly man in Tweed Heads.
Police allege the 37-year-old pushed the 82-year-old man as they passed each other on a footpath along Boyd Street on Friday morning.
The elderly victim suffered a serious injury and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
His attacker allegedly fled the scene, but was tracked down in Wharf Street around 6.30am on Sunday and arrested.
He has since been charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
The man was refused police bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court today.
