A man will front court today accused of firing bullets into a home in the Tweed region.

Police were called to a property along Prospero Street in South Murwillumbah around 12.30am on Thursday following reports of gun shots.

“Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District attended and established a number of shots had been discharged into a property,” police said in a statement.

A crime scene was established at the home to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Following investigations, a 35-year-old man was arrested at a home on Hall Drive in Murwillumbah about 12pm on Thursday.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with a string of offences including possess shortened firearm without authority, armed with intent commit indictable offence and fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety.

He was also charged with offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm.

The man was refused bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court today.
