Australian TV’s night of nights is moving channels, with the Seven Network securing the rights to the TV Week Logie Awards for the next five years.

But it remains to be seen whether the awards will return to the Gold Coast in 2023.

The 2023 Logies are expected to be held on Sunday, June 18.

A location for the event will be announced later this year.

It will be the first the Logies have been screened on Seven since 1995 having been shown on Nine since then.

“The TV Week Logie Awards are more than television’s night of nights; they are a treasured Australian institution and a celebration of Australia’s love of television,” Seven West Media Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, James Warburton said.

“We are honoured to be partnering with Are Media to bring the Logies to Australia on Channel 7 and 7plus. It’s early days but we have big, exciting plans for the awards in 2023 and beyond.”

Queensland secured a four-year deal to host the Logies in 2018 but COVID forced the event to be cancelled in 2020 and 2021.

It made a triumphant return in 2022 but its future on the Gold Coast is up in the air.

It’s believed Sydney has made an offer to poach the Logies from Queensland.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has encouraged Logies organisers and sponsors to “back the Goldie’’ for the 2023 event.

“Ask the actors, ask the nominees, ask the sponsors … the Gold Coast has made the Logies its home and I know everyone loved attending this year’s event,’’ he said.

“I applaud Channel Seven for securing the television rights (2023-2027) and I hope Tourism Events Queensland (TEQ) can ensure the Logies stay right here on the Gold Coast.’’
