A man has been charged after an 18-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by an intruder who broke into her home in the Tweed.
The man is accused of breaking into the Banora Point property just before 9.30am on Wednesday, February 1.
Once inside, police allege the man grabbed the woman and sexually touched her before threatening her and running from the house on foot.
Following a public appeal for information to track him down, officers raided a property on Haig Street in Coolangatta last Thursday where they seized a number of items for examination.
Later that day, a 28-year-old man was arrested after he handed himself into Tweed Heads Police Station.
He was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent knowing people there, and sexually touch another person without consent.
The man appeared in Tweed Heads Local Court on Thursday 7 April, where he was granted conditional bail to appear in the same court on Monday 24 April.
