The Gold Coast Suns have re-signed youngster Mac Andrew to one of the longest, and potentially one of the richest deals in AFL history.

The 20-year-old was still under contract at the Suns until the end of next year with rival clubs preparing to circle with some massive offers.

One club was reportedly preparing to table an eighter-year deal worth $12 million.

But the Suns have headed off a bidding war and locked in Andrew as they chase their first finals appearance in the next few years.

Andrew has signed a six-year deal with a trigger for another four years after that which could see him in a Suns jumper into his 30s.

The contract is reported to be worth $1 million a season with room to increase that based on his performance.

It could see him earning between $12 million and $14 million over the life of the deal.

“I love everything about this place. I’ve made a home for myself up here and have a great support base here,” Andrew said.

“I’m really keen to be a part of the first team that wins a Premiership on the Coast. To be the first to do that would be pretty special and something I really want to be a part of.

“It’s pretty evident we are heading in the right direction and I just want to play my role in what will be something great.

“I don’t want to take my career for granted, I really want to make the most of it and grab every opportunity with both hands.”

Andrew was picked up by the Suns at the age of 17 with pick number five in the 2021 draft.

The youngster had a defining 2024 season, playing 20 games for the Suns.
