The Gold Coast Suns have managed to lock in one of their main men, with Ben King committing to the club for a further two years.

The club confirmed King will remain a Sun until the end of the 2024 season.

The star forward was due to come off contract at the end of the season and is believed to have fielded interest from several Melbourne AFL clubs, including St Kilda, where twin brother max currently plays.

King said he was excited to continue to build on the bright start he has made to his career on the Gold Coast.

“I’ve been thinking about it for the last year or so and there was never really any doubt to commit to the SUNS,” King said.

“I’ve been very lucky from the start in that I feel very well supported by the club and have a great group of mates up on the Gold Coast.

“I think we have a really great group of people and we’re definitely building something special as we mature each year.

“The aim is to play finals and has been for the last couple of years… I think it’s definitely within reach.

“I love the club and I’m really confident in the direction the club’s heading.”

While it is great news for the club, they are preparing to play the entire 2022 season without King.

He ruptured his ACL in a training mishap last month and is currently spending time with his family in Melbourne while he recovers.

King is expected to return to the Gold Coast in the coming days to continue his rehab.
