The Maroons have been given a boost ahead of next year’s State of Origin, with the men’s series to kick off at Suncorp Stadium.

The NRL has confirmed the fixture for the 2025 Origin matches, with Queensland locked in to host the Blues on May 28.

New South Wales haven’t won a series opener in Brisbane since 2017.

However, the Blues will be licking their lips for game two, with Perth confirmed to host the second showdown on June 18.

Perth has hosted two Origin games, one in 2019 and another in 2022, with New South Wales winning both matches convincingly.

The series finale will be held at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on July 9.

Meantime, the women’s series opener will again feature as part of Magic Round in Brisbane on May 1, before game two is held at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium for the first time two weeks later.

The women’s series will then wrap up with a showdown in Newcastle on May 29.

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said he’s looking forward to the “greatest rivalry in Australian sport” returning next year.

“The 2024 Ampol State of Origin Series was one for the ages,” Abdo said.

“An intense and exciting series for both the men and women plus a showcase of emerging young talent in the Under 19s Origin matches.

“2024 was a landmark year for Women’s State of Origin, with record crowds and television audiences. It was a gripping contest to mark the first ever three-game series.”.

Billy Slater will again coach the Queensland Maroons, while the NSW Blues are still on the hunt for a new head coach following Michael Maguire’s departure, with Laurie Daley the frontrunner for the role.
