Justin Langer has resigned as coach of the Australian men’s cricket team, effective immediately.
His decision to quit comes after a marathon Cricket Australia board meeting on Friday where his future was discussed at length.
While it wasn’t revealed what position the C.A board came to, Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley told reporters they would now enter into “confidential discussions” with Langer.
It was claimed Langer would only be offered a short-term deal.
Langer’s management company confirmed his resignation in a tweet on Saturday.
“DSEG confirms that our client Justin Langer has this morning tendered his resignation as coach of the Australian mens cricket team.
“The resignation follows a meeting with Cricket Australia last evening. The resignation is effective immediately.”
More to come.
