A woman has died following a horror head-on crash on a major Queensland highway.
The fatal crash happened around 3.40pm on Wednesday, when a 4WD Toyota and Honda Wagon collided on the Peak Downs Highway, around 25klm west of Nebo.
The female driver of the 4WD Toyota suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene to Mackay Base Hospital.
The driver of the Honda Wagon, a 44-year-old Clermont woman, died at the scene despite desperate attempts from paramedics.
The passenger in the Honda managed to escape with minor injuries and was taken to Mackay Hospital.
The Forensic Crash Unit is conducting investigations into the accident.
They’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or those who drove past it, to come forward.
