The man wanted for the murder of North Queensland woman Toyah Cordingley four years ago has made a brief appearance in court following his arrest in India.
Rajwinder Singh was taken into custody in New Delhi on Friday with reports he was on his way to a doctor’s appointment when Police pounced.
The major breakthrough comes just weeks after a $1 million reward was offered for information leading to his arrest.
Toyah was attacked and killed while walking her dog along Wangetti Beach, just north of Cairns, in October 2018.
Her body was discovered by her own father during a desperate search for the 24-year-old after she failed to return home.
Singh fled to India in the days after her death, leaving behind his job, wife and three children.
Singh will remain in custody and will reappear in court on Wednesday when Australian authorities are expected to apply for his extradition.
