The man accused of murdering Queensland woman Toyah Cordingley is on his way back to Australia.

Rajwinder Singh’s extradition was finalised in India overnight before he was handed to Queensland Police at Delhi Airport and put on a Qantas flight to Melbourne.

His return to Australia comes more than four years after Toyah’s alleged murder and more than two months since Singh was arrested in India.

Toyah was allegedly attacked and killed while walking her dog along Wangetti Beach, just north of Cairns, in October 2018.

Her own father discovered her body during a desperate search for the 24-year-old after she failed to return home.

Singh, the prime suspect in the case, fled to India in the days after her death, leaving behind his job, wife and three children.

A $1 million reward was offered in November, weeks before Singh was arrested on his way to a doctor’s appointment in Delhi.

He is expected to face court where Queensland detectives will apply for his extradition.
