Police have confirmed the suspected gunman responsible for a mass shooting in Queensland is in custody.
Three people have been allegedly killed in the shooting, at a property in Bogie, about 40k west of Bowen.
Acting Superintendent Tom Armitt has told Nine five people are assisting with investigations.
“Of those five people three people remain in custody,” he says.
“We believe one of those persons is responsible for this matter.”
It’s understood a man and a woman and the woman’s adult son were shot dead at the property around 9am yesterday.
Another adult son managed to escape but suffered a critical gunshot wound to his stomach.
He underwent emergency surgery overnight.
There are reports the shooting unravelled from a property dispute, but police say the exact motive remains unclear at this stage.
“What we do know is that the parties involved are neighbours,” Superintendent Armitt says.
“And some conversation has occurred between the parties and resulted in a meeting up of the parties at the boundary line in the early hours of yesterday morning when the incident occurred.”
Police say they have a number of enquiries going on so any pending charges will be laid later on today.
