Police have locked down a number of streets in Strathpine, north of Brisbane, as they negotiate with a man holed up inside a home.
Officers were called to a Peter Street property just after 1.30am on Tuesday in relation to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, they began negotiations with a man, who is believed to be in the residence alone.
An emergency situation was declared just after 4am, with boundaries encompassing Gertrude Street, Peter Street, Rowland Street and Cavendish Street.
Members of the public are being told to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.

Traffic diversions are also in place.
