There’s a chance Queensland could have a new top cop within days, with the State’s Police Commissioner hinting she may not continue in the role.
Katarina Carroll is expected to meet with the Police Minister about her future today, amid the growing unrest from within the force over staff shortages and the escalating youth crime crisis.
Ms Carroll has revealed she is considering all options regarding her future, including the possibility of not seeking a renewal of her contract which comes to an end in July.
“I have yet to have formal discussions about my contract with the Government, however, they will commence in due course,” Ms Carroll said in a statement.
“Ahead of those discussions, I have been considering my options, with one of those being that I may not seek an extension to my contract as Commissioner”.
Ms Carroll made history in 2019 after becoming the first woman to be appointed to the top job.
More to come.
