A police officer from the South East region has been served a notice to appear in court for allegedly using excessive force on a 20-year-old Logan man.

The 43-year-old has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service over the alleged incident on 30 December last year.

The Senior Constable, who was on duty at the time, is facing a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” Queensland Police said.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated”.

The officer is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 4 December.
