The Sunshine State has been confirmed as the nation’s leading visitor destination at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

The ceremony was held in Sydney on Friday night, and saw Queensland dominate by winning the most awards and more gold than any other Australian state.

Queensland took out 16 of the 25 categories – with 7 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze.

The Gold Coast won twice, with Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Sea World Cruises both nabbing a bronze award.

Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe says it’s our best result since 2018.

“Queensland has literally scooped the pool, and it again confirms Queensland as Australia’s leading visitor destination,” Minister Hinchcliffe says.

“I want to thank Queensland tourism operators and their communities for their hard work and commitment to building back better and delivering truly outstanding Queensland visitor experiences,
