The Queensland State Government has announced that Rapid Antigen Tests will be made free to the state’s most vulnerable from today.
It comes after the Federal Government initiative came to an end yesterday.
Pensioners, people with disabilities and health-care card holders will be able to access the free rats.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath says anyone under the eligibility criteria can access up to five test kits per month over the next three months.
“We have, through our forward planning, a lot of excess stock as far as our rapid antigen tests,” Minister D’Ath says.
“So we want to make sure that the most vulnerable in the community, those concession card holders, can still access these rapid antigen tests.”

Eligible Queenslanders are encouraged to visit the Queensland Health site to find a list of all the sites where the RAT’s are available across Queensland.
“I do ask if the hospital isn’t listed, particularly in Southeast Queensland, don’t go to our hospital seeking these free rapid antigen tests,” Ms D’ath says.
“Go to the health centres that are listed.”
Queensland has recorded 4,303 new cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total amount of active cases to 51,797.
There are 782 people in hospital battling the virus, and 24 in the Intensive Care Unit.
