Queensland has reported another record amount of Covid-19 infections, with 23,630 cases picked up overnight.
Roughly half of them were from Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) with around 10,182 of those results included in today’s figures.
Sadly, there were another three deaths reported across the state overnight, none of whom were vaccinated.
It brings Queensland’s death toll from the virus to 20.
Chief Health Officer Doctor John Gerrard says that while the number of people in hospital has stayed rather steady, the amount of people who are now in intensive care has jumped.
“We now have 589 people in hospital in total today,” Doctor Gerrard said in Friday’s update.
“That includes 41 patients in intensive care. Of those 41 patients in intensive care, 15 of them were ventilated.
“The 589 figure is up from 586 yesterday and the figure of 41 in intensive care is up from 26 yesterday.
“There is a steady increase in the number of patients in hospital. Not an explosive increase, a steady increase,” Dr Gerrard said.
Meantime, new data shows that more than half of eligible Queenslanders have now received their booster shots.

It comes the day before Queensland is set to drop the border entry requirements.
