A man has died after a kangaroo struck his motorbike on a rural road in the Maranoa region overnight.
Initial investigations indicate that just after 7:30pm, the man was riding an off-road motorcycle north along Middle Road in Womalilla before he collided with the kangaroo.
The impact threw the man from his motorbike, suffering critical injuries.
Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the 48-year-old could not be saved and died at the scene.
The kangaroo was also found dead.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and will prepare a report for the coroner.
