Young Queensland drivers are paying over seven times the amount some southern states are paying for their learner license, with fresh calls for fees to be cut.

In Queensland, L Plate drivers must fork out $186.55 for their license, compared to just $26 in Victoria and NSW.

It’s prompted the Opposition to lash out at State Government, with Leader David Crisafulli labelling it a “rip off”.

“These learner drivers are starting out in life and this government is hitting them in the hip pocket as the cost-of-living skyrockets,” Mr Crisafulli says.

“It’s outrageous and unfair.”

The Opposition says everyday costs are spiralling out of control and claim the government is doing nothing to help.

“The Palaszczuk Government could reduce these fees today,” Mr Crisafulli says.

“Instead, they’re hitting young Queenslanders with this ridiculous cost of $186 for their learner licence when their mates in other states pay just $26.

“It’s time this government gave these kids a break.”

The learner license fees in Queensland are the most expensive in the country.
