The State Government is under pressure to strengthen our fake gun laws, which even fall behind some parts of the USA.

Queensland is currently the only state in Australia without restrictions on the sale of gel blasters.

While it is illegal to carry them, they can be purchased for as little as $30 with no ID required, and look exactly like the real thing.

The growing calls follow an alarming spike in the amount of criminals arming themselves with gel blasters during home-invasions and robberies.

Just days ago, a gang of teens were charged over three robberies across the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane.

They allegedly threatened staff with the fake weapons and got away with wads of cash.

Back in March, a gel blaster was shot into another car on the M1 on the Gold Coast, terrifying motorists.

It’s understood even police struggle to tell the difference between the fake guns and the real thing.

In some US states, gel blasters must be fitted with neon markers to indicate they’re not real.
