With hundreds of pets desperately needing a new home, RSPCA Queensland has dropped their adoption fees to try help them find a loving family faster.
Until Monday 7 November, dogs will cost $199 to adopt, while cats are just $49.
RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Emma Lagoon says it’s been a tough few months.
“We’re hoping to see more people apply to adopt,” Ms Lagoon says.
“We have noticed a steady decline in adoption interest since July this year.”
There are currently 333 dogs and cats currently needing a home.
Among those looking for a home is Banksy, who has now recovered from a terrifying ordeal in Logan.
The dog was found tethered to a tree at Tovey Park, Boronia Heights and is now looking for a new family.
Following an RSPCA call for information, inspectors were able to identify the dog’s previous owner who have surrendered him for rehoming.
“Now affectionately named Banksy, he’s currently available to adopt at our Brisbane RSPCA and hoping to start a wonderful new life,”
“Banksy’s owner was very upset when they found out what had happened. But as they couldn’t guarantee his safety in the future, they decided he should be rehomed.”
If you’re looking to adopt sweet Banksy, he’s looking for an understanding owner who will shower him with love and affection and help him continue to build his confidence and trust.
