Parts of Queensland are being warned to brace for wild weather today as a slow-moving weather system moves across the state.
Multiple areas are on alert for severe thunderstorms, with the Central Highlands and Coalfields the most at risk today.
However, areas of the Darling Downs and Northern Goldfields are also on notice with storms “likely”.
The Bureau of Meteorology says the severe storms are likely to pack large hail, heavy rain and damaging winds.
There are also fears of flooding and river rises, with residents urged to remain alert.
The worst of the wild weather is expected to hit the South East from tomorrow as the severe system moves across the state’s centre.
It will make for a wet weekend across the Gold Coast, with up to 40 millimetres of rain forecast to fall across the city on Friday, with another 45 milliemetres expected on Saturday and 35 millimetres on Sunday.
Severe thunderstorm warnings will be issued by the Bureau throughout the day.
