A motorbike rider has been killed in a horror collision with a truck in the Toowoomba region.
It happened at at the intersection of Bridge Street and Nugent Pinch Road in Cotswold Hills around 5.20am this morning.
The 49-year-old male rider suffered critical injuries and died at the scene, while the truck driver was uninjured.
It comes as the death toll for motorbike riders in Queensland hit’s a staggering amount, as the state grapples with one of its most devastating road tolls in years.
Recent statistics from the Department of Transport and Main Roads show from January 1 to June 18 2023, there has been an alarming 38 motorbike or moped riders killed on Queensland roads.
This figure is already 15.2% higher than the year before and is the worst toll so far in at least the past five years.
Overall, 117 lives have been lost on Queensland roads this year.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances leading up to the Toowoomba crash.
