A man has died in police custody in Brisbane after being arrested over drug offences.
The 68-year-old was found unresponsive in the police car on arrival at the Brisbane City Watch House on Tuesday night at around 7.20pm.
He had been arrested at a residence in Fortitude Valley at 7.00pm.
Police rendered first aid and Queensland Ambulance Officers attended, however, the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Ethical Standards Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
While the circumstances of his death are still to be determined, Police say the investigation will include consideration of any underlying health conditions.
The State Coroner has been advised and the Crime and Corruption Commission will provide independent oversight of the Ethical Standards Command investigation.
