Man dies, another in custody following alleged Noosa assault

A man has died after he was allegedly assaulted on a busy street in Noosa Heads.

Police were called to the popular Hastings Street tourist strip around 6am on Sunday following reports of an assault.

Despite efforts by emergency crews, the man could not be revived and died at the scene.

Another man has been taken into custody and is assisting police with their inquiries.

A crime scene has been declared, with detectives appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
