Murder charges have been laid after a woman was found dead at a home in the Moreton Bay Region.

The body of 51-year-old Janet Guthrie was found at approximately 9pm on February 16, after police attended the Bongaree property for a welfare check.

It’s understood concerned neighbours had heard a disturbance at the home along Melia Street the evening before.

Police located a 47-year-old man at South Caboolture on the morning of February 17, and he has been assisting police with enquiries.

He has now been charged with murder (domestic violence), enter dwelling with intent, robbery and contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

It’s alleged the man and woman were known to each other.

His bail has been refused and he is expected to appear before Caboolture Magistrates Court tomorrow (February 22).
