A 49-year-old man has been charged with two counts of murder after two people were found dead inside a home in Brisbane’s south.
The bodies of the mother and son were discovered by police inside a property on Coolidge Court in Stretton around 9.40am.
It’s understood officers made the grim find after their alleged attacker phoned triple-zero.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said they were confronted with a “traumatic” scene.
“A number of police units attended a two-storey brick dwelling, where they were met at the front door of that dwelling by a 49-year-old male person,” Det Supt Massingham said.
“That male person at that time unlocked the front door and was seen to be suffering some injuries to his arms and legs.
“Police then ascended the internal staircase of the premises, where they noticed a large amount of blood on the staircase and immediately upon arrival on the second level of the premises have found two bodies.
“The scene was confronting and has been described as a frenzied attack on the two deceased persons.
“It was quite traumatic in terms of a large amount of blood that is present.”
The man, who was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, is expected to have a bedside hearing today.
