Major response after helicopter crashes while fighting bushfires in Scenic Rim

A pilot has miraculously escaped a helicopter crash while fighting a bushfire in the Scenic Rim.

It’s understood the chopper plunged into a dam at Tarome, about 60km west of Beaudesert, just before 3pm.

The helicopter was reportedly hovering above the surface trying to collect water when it crashed into the dam.

The pilot, a man in his 40s, managed to swim to the surface and has escaped serious injury.
