A man has died after being gunned down in the front yard of a home in Brisbane in the early hours of this morning.

The man was shot out the front of a property along Cliveden Avenue at Oxley just before 3.30am.

The alleged shooter fled the scene immediately after pulling the trigger and remains on the run.

Police have blocked off the street as investigations into the fatal shooting continue.

The crime scene has also closed the drop-off zone for Corinda State School in Cliveden Avenue, however, the school has confirmed it will open today.

Parents are being asked to allow extra time to get their children to school safely, as the crime scene is expected to remain in place past 9am.
