Queensland is continuing to cement itself as the new Hollywood, with Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and her US comedian beau Pete Davidson the latest to call the sunshine state home.

The famous couple has temporarily relocated down under as Davidson prepares to shoot his new movie Wizards! in Port Douglas.

The screenplay, produced by Brad Pitt’s company Plan B, follows the comical exploits of two hapless beach-bar operators who run into trouble when they stumble across stolen loot.

Written by Australian David Michôd, the film also stars Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, who this week touched down in Far North Queensland alongside partner Katy Perry and their 1-year-old daughter Daisy.

According to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, the production is set to inject $14.7 million into the economy and create hundreds of jobs.

“What a coup for Queensland,” the Premier said.

“Once again, our local film industry and picture-perfect locations have lured another valuable production with big budgets to spend in our regions.

“Wizards! will inject approximately $14.7 million into our state economy and create around 100 jobs for Queensland cast and crew, as well as nearly 300 opportunities for extras — which I’m sure will be great news for local industry practitioners and the community alike.”
