Latest @ Saturday June 25, 5.10am: A Gold Coast man has tragically died following a horror five-vehicle pileup on the Logan Motorway.
The 48-year-old Ormeau Hills man suffered critical injuries when his Nissan X-trail collided with two trucks collided just before 3pm yesterday at Meadowbrook.
Despite desperate efforts from emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.
A 22-year-old Coombabah man, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two other vehicles were also subsequently involved in the collision, smashing into the back of one of the trucks, however neither driver suffered any major physical injuries.
The drivers and sole occupants of the two trucks suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospital in stable conditions.
The Forensic Crash Unit has confirmed they are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage in the area at the time is urged to contact police.
It follows an absolute horror week on southeast Queensland roads, with four motorists now tragically killed on the road this week alone.
It takes the state death toll to 148 people, 18 higher than it was at this time last year, with authorities desperately pleading with drivers to take extra care as we head into the holiday period.
Earlier @ Friday June 24, 4.20pm: One person is in a critical condition, and multiple others have been injured following a nasty crash on the Logan Motorway.
The motorway eastbound has been closed entirely, forcing peak hour Friday afternoon traffic into a standstill.
The serious multi-vehicle collision, involving several trucks and cars, happened around 3pm at Meadowbrook.
Paramedics, including high acuity response and critical care, are currently on scene.
Motorists are being warned to expect extremely long delays, while traffic is being diverted off the motorway.
Police are urging motorists to avoid the area entirely, with no time frame given for when the motorway will reopen.

It comes as authorities and emergency services urge Queensland drivers to be extra cautious on the road, with the state death toll reaching tragic highs.
