A 12-year-old child has suffered a head injury and multiple fractures after being struck by a car during a police chase in Brisbane this afternoon.
Officers from Highway Patrol were conducting registration checks on Kessels Road in Macgregor when they spotted an unregistered Commodore just after 12pm.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled at a high speed, leading police on a chase.
The vehicle is alleged to hit the youngster after running a red light at the intersection of Mains Road and Cosmic Street.
The male driver then exited the car and fled the scene through a nearby shopping centre.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations are ongoing into the whereabouts of the driver of the Commodore, described as a male aged in his 20s.
The boy was transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital with multiple fractures in a serious but stable condition.
The Ethical Standards Command has been advised.
