A young girl is in a serious condition in hospital after being mauled by a dog in Logan.
The 6-year-old is believed to have been climbing a fence at a home on Ormesby Street in Woodridge around 4.30pm on Monday when she was attacked.
It’s understood the youngster was dragged down by the dog and into a yard where she was bitten.
The child’s uncle heard the commotion and jumped over the fence to try and rescue her but was also bitten by the animal.
The child suffered significant abdominal, chest and shoulder injuries and was rushed to the Queensland Children’s Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Her Uncle, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The dog was seized by officers at the scene and remains in the hands of council dog handlers.
Investigations are ongoing.
