A manhunt is underway for three men in the South Burnett Region following a wild crime spree.
The trio stormed a Wondai home on Outridge Street around 4am on Thursday morning, beforey demanding car keys and a mobile phone from the resident, a 70-year-old man.
They then assaulted him with a wooden stick, before fleeing empty-handed.
The gang failed in stealing the man’s vehicle and left in a Nissan X-Trail, which was stolen from a home in Murgon earlier that night.
The vehicle was later found burnt out on Wondai Road in Cherbourg.
The 70-year-old male was transported to Kingaroy Hospital with head injuries.
Detectives are appealing to anyone with information, or relevant CCTV or dashcam vision, to immediately come forward.
Investigations continue.
