A 12-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly lighting the fire that destroyed a home in the Whitsundays.
The property on Shute Harbour Road in Jubilee Pocket erupted into flames around 4pm yesterday afternoon.
Several fire crews battled the blaze and managed to stop it from spreading into neighbouring properties or bushland.
Queensland Police says nobody was inside the home, and no physical injuries were sustained by any people.
A number of juveniles were spoken to by officers nearby with a 12-year-old boy arrested.
He’s been charged with one count of arson.
He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
