A leaking toilet pipe in a Sydney unit has led to the shock discovery of 220 kilograms of ice, worth $44 million, and $1.1 million in cash.
Police were called to the property in Canterbury on July 9 last year after workers fixing a leaking toilet pipe reported finding bags of cash and a crystal substance in an open cupboard.
Officers established a crime scene at the unit and during a search of the property and a garage underneath the complex, allegedly located 15 cardboard boxes containing almost 220 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
They also found 95 grams of MDMA and 35 grams of cocaine, along with chemicals consistent with the manufacture of GBH, GBL and ice.
A massive $1.15 million in cash, some of which was found in a grocery bag, was also uncovered in the unit and garage.
As investigations into the discovery continue, detectives have today released vision of a man they believe may be able to assist.
The man is seen walking along Minter Street about 8.10pm on the day police initially attended the unit.
He is described as being of Asian appearance, about 170cm tall, of thin build, aged between 25-30, with short black hair.
