Sydney’s Star Casino is expected to be fined $100 million after a damning report into its operations.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the gaming giant is expected to be handed the fine by the NSW Independent Casino Commission later today.
It’s the worst possible start for new Chief Executive Officer Robbie Cooke, who begins in the role today.
The fine set to be handed down is the highest financial penalty permitted under NSW Law, but it will allow the casino to retain its licence.
It comes after The Star was found to be unfit for a casino licence for failing to stop criminal activity and money laundering.
The show-cause process following similar findings in Queensland is ongoing.
