New South Wales Police insist the investigation into the disappearance of toddler William Tyrrell is very much ongoing.
It comes on the eighth anniversary of William’s disappearance from his foster grandmother’s home on the New South Wales mid-north coast.
The three-year-old was last seen playing in the front yard of the home at Kendall on September 12, 2014.
William was wearing a Spiderman costume at the time he went missing.
Numerous searches have been conducted for the toddler, including a renewed search last November following fresh information.
A lengthy inquest began in October 2019 and wrapped up in October 2020.
The coroner was due to hand down findings last November but was delayed by the renewed search.
In a statement, Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said every effort is and should be channelled towards finding Williams.
“The Homicide Squad’s Strike Force Rosann is continuing to prepare a brief for the information of the Coroner for the purpose of determining what happened to William eight years ago today.
“Our investigation is very much active and ongoing, and while I won’t go into specifics, I can assure the community that various activities, including those under Coronial Orders, are being undertaken every day.
“We are working with a large volume of information, and it is necessary to methodically explore and exhaust every line of inquiry; and that is a protracted process.
“This is all for William, and if it takes time and effort to get it right, it’s worth it.”
A $1 million reward remains in place for information that leads to the recovery of William.
