A major investigation is underway after a teenage boy died after being stabbed on the NSW north coast overnight.
Emergency services were called to Pacific Street at Corindi Beach, 26km north of Coffs Harbour, around 5.40pm on Sunday, where they found a 16-year-old with a stab wound to his thigh.
Police rendered first aid until paramedics arrived and rushed the boy to Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Despite desperate efforts by first responders and doctors, the teen could not be saved and died shortly after arrival.
A crime scene has now been established and investigations are underway, with detectives from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad called in to assist.
As inquiries continue, officers have spoken to a number of people at the location and conducted a canvass of the area.
They are appealing for anyone with information to contact Coffs Harbour Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
