A woman has suffered burns to her face after being doused in acid in a horror attack in Sydney’s CBD overnight.
The 32-year-old was waiting outside a restaurant on Dixon Street in Haymarket about 11.15pm when a black hatchback stopped in front of her.
According to police, three masked men then jumped out of the car and allegedly threw a substance, believed to be acid, at the woman’s face.
The men then fled the scene in the vehicle.
The woman was treated by paramedics before being rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
A crime scene was established, and the substance was assessed by NSW Fire and Rescue HAZMAT crews.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which is believed to be targeted, is underway.
