COVID testing requirements for New South Wales students and teachers will be scrapped.
The twice-weekly testing regime will come to an end on Friday.
However, families and staff will still be provided with free rapid tests for them to use when needed.
They will receive four this week and another four in the coming weeks.
New South Wales Education Minister Sarah Mitchell says the measure had worked with no school closures since the beginning of the term.
“It is important we help students, staff and families retain their levels of confidence as we get back to a more normal school life,” Ms Mitchell said.
“Testing children twice a week was not an easy task, and I’d like to thank all of the parents and carers for their efforts in these critical first few weeks of term.”
New South Wales today recorded 5,582 new cases of COVID-19 along with 21 deaths.
There are currently 1,280 people in hospital and 77 in ICU.
