A man has died and a woman is fighting for life after a house fire in Sydney’s west this morning.
Emergency crews rushed to Eltham Street at Blacktown just after 5am following reports a home had erupted into flames.
Upon arrival, a man and woman were pulled from the property by fire crews.
Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the man, believed to be aged in his 60s, could not be saved and died at the scene.
The woman, aged in her 80s, was taken to Westmead Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is underway and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
