Man and teenage boy found dead with gunshot wounds in Yamba

Police are investigating after a man and teenage boy were found dead with gunshot wounds at a home in Yamba in NSW’s Northern Rivers region.

Officers made the grim find on Thursday afternoon after being called to a property at Kookaburra Circuit.

Upon arrival, they found the bodies of a 58-year-old man and 15-year-old boy.

“Initial inquiries indicate the 58-year-old man was a licensed firearms holder and detectives have requested his licensing history from the NSW Firearms Registry,” police said in a statement.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined, however police do not believe a third party was involved.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
