Most COVID restrictions in New South Wales will be ditched early with the peak of the Omicron wave now over.

Some rules will be scrapped from tomorrow including density limits in pubs, clubs and restaurants.

The one-person per two square metre rule will be lifted completely while singing and dancing will be allowed again in pubs and clubs.

QR check-ins will also go from Friday except at nightclubs and music festivals where there are more than 1000 people.

The work-from-home recommendation will also be removed with the government to leave it up to the employers’ discretion.

The NSW Premier has also announced that the hotel quarantine period for unvaccinated overseas travellers will be slashed from 14 days to seven as of Monday.

Further restrictions will be eased from February 25 including most mask-wearing rules.

Masks will only be mandatory on public transport, planes, at airports, hospitals, aged and disability care facilities, corrections facilities and indoor music festivals with more than 1,000 people.

Singing and dancing will also be allowed at music festivals from next Friday while the cap of 20,000 people will be removed.

However, people attending music festivals with more than 1,00 people will be required to be fully vaccinated.

“I know it has been a very difficult two years here in our state,” NSW Premier Dominic Perrotet said.

“Many people have made enormous sacrifices but the efforts that have been made … ensured we’ve seen downward pressure on our hospital system.”

New South Wales recorded 9995 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday along with 14 deaths.
