A popular LED light sold at Bunnings across the country for nearly three years has been urgently recalled over a serious fire risk.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued a statement, recalling two batches of the ‘Lagos 90w LED Slim Batten 1200mm Linear Lighting fixture’.

“The product may ignite and catch on fire causing serious injuries, death or property damage,” the ACCC says.

“The light’s LED components could overheat causing the housing to distort, melt or ignite.”

The impacted lights have the batch code VR2821 or VR3821 on the back of the unit.

The affected model is branded Brilliant Lighting with the model number  21001/05, and is 7500 Lumens with 240V AC.

The product has been sold nationally, internationally and online at Bunnings Australia.

“If the product is connected by a plug, remove it and return the product to the nearest Bunnings Store for a refund,”

“If the product is hardwired and requires an Electrician to remove it, contact Brilliant Lighting to make arrangements for a service call to remove and replace the product with a similar fixture or to provide a refund.”
