A desperate search is underway in waters near Hawaii after a man reportedly fell overboard from a cruise ship from Australia.
The Quantum of the Seas was nearing the end of a 16-day voyage from Brisbane to Hawaii.
The ship was around 1400 km off Hawaii when the alarm was raised on Wednesday night.
An immediate search was launched by the ship’s crew while US authorities were also notified.
Passengers on the ship were ordered to return to their cabins and check on their travelling parties.
The US Coast Guard has dispatched a Hercules aircraft to search the area while other ships have been urged to be on alert.
The cruise ship has since continued its voyage to Hawaii.
