Ash Barty can now officially add ‘children’s book author’ to her already very impressive resume.
The Australian tennis star has today released her very own series of children’s books inspired by real-life experiences of the sporting legend and her family.
The 25-year-old launched the early reader series, titled Little Ash, alongside her niece Lucy and her friends at the State Library of Queensland.
Barty teamed up with first nations writer Jasmin McGaughey and illustrator Jade Goodwin to bring the series about school, sport, friendship and family to life.
“Little Ash’s stories are inspired by my childhood. While they aren’t completely factual, they include some of my memories and experiences as a kid and it’s been really fun working on this project and bringing those experiences to life,” Barty said.
“Kids will love them because they are relatable, bright, and fun.
“The illustrations are brilliant, and the storytelling is incredible, and I’ve been so lucky to work with Jasmin and Jade to bring this vision to life so kids can enjoy them”.

The career move comes after the three-time Grand Slam champion and world No.1 women’s tennis player announced her shock retirement in March.
In a video posted to Instagram, Barty said she “no longer had the physical drive” and it was time to “chase other dreams”.
The first four titles in Ash’s new children’s book series are on sale today, with her memoir and two more books in the Little Ash series to be released in November.
