New South Wales has posted its deadliest day of the pandemic with 36 COVID-related deaths recorded overnight.

It comes as the state records another 29,830 new COVID cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday.

Of those, more than 13,000 were positive rapid antigen tests with more than 11,000 from the previous seven days.

New South Wales now has 2850 people being treated for COVID in hospital, an increase of 74 from the day before.

There are currently 209 people in ICU across the state.

Meantime, Victoria has also recorded another spike in COVID-related deaths with 22 people losing their lives overnight.

The state recorded 20,180 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours.

Victoria now has 1152 people in hospital with 127 in ICU and 43 patients being ventilated.
